Take advantage of the perfect conditions either at sunrise or late afternoon, and just let the wind carry you. An unforgettable experience of complete weightlessness, watching the different landscapes pass by one after another down below: Lake Annecy of course but also the peaks of the Bauges and Aravis mountains with Mont-Blanc in the distance. The route cannot be defined beforehand because the hot-air balloon will simply follow the direction of the wind. But depending on what you’d like to see, there are several departure points to choose from, in Annecy, at the Sources of Lake Annecy and in La Clusaz. The hang-glider was the first flying contraption without an engine to take off from a mountain around fifty years ago, offering a unique free-flight experience. In a horizontal position attached in a full body harness with your head facing forwards, you’ll feel like you’re flying just like a bird. From the Col de la Forclaz, you’ll be flying over Lake Annecy and some of the most beautiful peaks, including La Tournette. An extraordinary flight in tandem where you can reach a speed of 90km/hr for an unforgettable experience guaranteed!
Annecy is a globally renowned destination for free flight and paragliding in particular. When the weather conditions are optimal, you’ll see a constant ballet of sails up over the turquoise-blue waters of Lake Annecy. From Annecy or the Sources of Lake Annecy, you can reach several take-off sites: Semnoz, Sambuy or the Col de La Forclaz… If you would prefer to fly over the Aravis mountains, villages and Alpine pastures, then we recommend taking off from the resorts at La Clusaz or Le Grand-Bornand.
There are many service providers offering sightseeing flights or more acrobatic flights as well as courses either for beginners or refresher courses depending on your level of ability. An opportunity to take to the skies in complete safety and admire the spectacular views!
Annecy Mountains is also a well-known destination for longer paragliding outings to explore the area. This activity requires prior experience and is the best possible way to be at one with nature! Walk up to the take-off site, crossing through the forests and pastures on your way, and then fly like a bird. International champion Joanna Di Grigoli came to live at the Sources of Lake Annecy for a good reason!
If you’ve never seen ‘Fly Away Home’ or ‘Spread Your Wings’, it doesn’t matter because you can do even better! Enjoy the magical experience of flying among the wild geese in an exceptional setting up over Lake Annecy. In 2021, Dominique decided to breed 14 goslings and they all now fly as a family alongside his ultra-light trike. From the Sources of Lake Annecy, take a seat alongside Dominique and just enjoy the show as he tells you all about migratory birds in our destination. A magnificent and moving flight!
